Promoting better methods and best practices of beekeeping among beekeepers of Macon County, North Carolina, and the nation. Working to better the beeping industry.
Founded in 1980, the Macon County Beekeepers Association has guided new and established beekeepers in best practices for over forty years. We have a volunteer team of experienced beekeepers who are passionate about their work and committed to sharing information with those new to beekeeping for successful hive and colony health. Members engage in community projects including mentoring 4-H youth in beginning beekeeping.
We meet the first Thursday of every month from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Macon County Extension Office, 193 Thomas Heights Road, Franklin. NC, 28734. Our Annual Beekeeping 101 class is held in February and March.

How can you be certain that the premium honey you bought is what it says it is? Unscrupulous individuals often purchase bulk honey from other regions or countries, labelling it as their own, produced in their own local apiaries. You can trust RealNCHoney to be what it says it is: honey produced by honey bees foraging on plants from the fields, woodlands and swamps of North Carolina. The Certified Honey Producer Registry lists all current participants in the program.
Nestled in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains, Macon County is one of the fastest growing counties in Western North Carolina. Through careful planning, the county remains committed to preserving its natural resources and offering abundant opportunities for agricultural production. Our honeybees produce superior wildflower and sourwood honey each year due to this commitment.
